The Mennonite Church was one of the main branches to emerge from the Anabaptist movement. The name “Mennonite” comes from the leader Menno Simons (1496-1561), a former Catholic priest from the Netherlands who joined the Anabaptist movement in 1536 and became a prominent leader and organizer of a group of Anabaptists who as followers of “Menno” were referred to as Mennonites.

The Mennonites believe in adult baptism and reject the unscriptural Roman Catholic practice of infant baptism. They believe in the biblical practice of pacifism and non-resistance while placing an emphasis on discipleship and following Jesus’ teachings. In keeping with their Anabaptist roots they are staunch believers in the separation of church and state which, like the Anabaptists, got them in hot water from various governing states resulting in persecution. Many Mennonites migrated to North America, Russia, and other parts of the world to escape persecution and seek religious freedom. As of 2022, Mennonites are found worldwide with an estimated 2.13 million Mennonites worldwide.

Mennonites today engage in various professions and lifestyles, ranging from very traditional and separate from mainstream society to fully integrated. Unlike the Amish who emerged from the Mennonites in the 18th century, some Mennonite communities maintain only traditional practices, while many others have adapted to modern life and technology.

No one receives eternal life and eternal presence with God, from who all good things come (James 1:17), by belonging to the right church or denomination. Rather only those who trust in the Jesus preached by the Apostles in the Bible for their own sin. We will not trust in a Savior for sins that we either don’t believe we have or that we think aren’t deserving of hell. But the Bible says that ALL have sin and the wages of our sin is eternal separation from God (death). The Bible says that you can know that YOU have eternal life. Click the button below to see if you are genuinely saved from your sins according to the Bible:
